Ernie’s back in a new travel show with NITV
Ernie Dingo is set to return to television with a new travel series for NITV.
Going Places with Ernie Dingo will premiere in December, the National Indigenous Times understands.
Filming of an initial three, one-hour episodes has just wrapped up.
The series will initially see the popular television star visit Uluru, Kakadu and the Great Barrier Reef.
NITV channel manager Tanya Denning-Orman said it was a coup for the channel to have Dingo in its line-up.
She said it would be a travel show like Australia had never seen before.
“It’s a brand new, full travel extravaganza, but it’s connecting with people who work on the country a lot of tourists go to – really getting to know the communities both Indigenous and non-indigenous whose livelihoods and soul is that country.
“Ernie is in his element. he has such an affinity with many Australians.”
Dingo’s return is just part of a strong finish to the year for the Indigenous national broadcaster.
Other highlights are set to include live-coverage from the giant Garma Festival in the Northern Territory. And there will also be coverage of the National Indigenous Music Awards and a replay of the recent NAIDOC awards.
